Chelsea appear to be favourites with the bookmakers to sign controversial AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli.

Paddy Power have Chelsea as 3/1 favourites to become the Italian's next permanent club, ahead of Premier League Arsenal and reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain who are both priced at 9/2.

Next up are Monaco at 9/1, with Tottenham and Real Madrid at 10/1, Juventus and Barcelona at 12/1 and Inter Milan at 14/1.

Roma and Bayern Munich are at 20/1, Manchester United 25/1 with Manchester City rounding things off out at 33/1.

Chelsea, who beat Everton 1-0 thanks to a last-gasp winner from captain John Terry on Saturday afternoon, currently sit top of the Premier League having amassed 60 points from 27 top-flight games.

However, despite their impressive season to date under Jose Mourinho, Chelsea have had a problem in the striking department this season with the trio of Samuel Eto'o, Fernando Torres struggling to maintain any sort of regular consistency in front of goal at Stamford Bridge.

Such frustrations have seen Chelsea linked with a variety of strikers, including the likes of Balotelli, Edinson Cavani and Radamel Falcao.

Arsenal, arguably Chelsea's closest rivals for Premier League glory this season along with free-scoring Manchester City, have also been linked with a move for Balotelli in recent weeks.

Arsene Wenger disappointed many Arsenal fans by failing to adequately bolster his own strikeforce in January.

While starting frontman Olivier Giroud is certainly very capable at this level, the Gunners have only the likes of Nicklas Bendtner and talented but raw French starlet Yaya Sanogo in reserve.

Balotelli, who is believed to be rated at around the £40 million mark, would be a fine addition for both sides and it is certainly worth noting that Mourinho worked with the player during his spell in charge at Inter Milan - something that might explain their apparent edge.
