Heisman winner Jameis Winston will take on legendary baseball player Derek Jeter and the rest of the New York Yankees when spring training games begin tomorrow.
Winston will face the Yankees with his Florida State Seminole teammates at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa as an exhibition game. The game will serve as the Yankees' first spring training game and is the first meeting between the two sides since 1985.
The 2013 Heisman winner, who plays mainly as a relief pitcher may not be called upon in the game but told ESPN that he is apprehensive at the thought of taking on his heroes:
"I think I' gonna be a little starstruck. That's my favorite team." Explained Winston. When asked what part of the game he was hoping to participate in, the football star wasn't fussy. "I wanna do it all... I'll do anything in that game."
In the season so far, Winston has had three pitching appearances and one recorded save through four innings of work. He has also recorded one hit at the plate.
This is Winston' second season on the baseball team, but the first after establishing himself as a football star last fall.
