Lukas Podolski hints at return to former club Koln
Arsenal star Lukas Podolski has opened the door to a surprise return to former club Koln at the end of the season.
As reported by the Daily Express, the Germany international admitted that Koln remains close to his heart.
And the Gunners forward refused to rule out a return to the Bundesliga 2 side at some point in his career.
"You can never rule anything out in football," Podolski said when asked about a potential return.
"The FC [Koln] is always my club and always will be."
The 28-year-old forward began his career at the club before earning a high profile move to Bayern Munich.
Things didn't work out there, and Podolski rejoined Koln before making the switch to the Premier League with Arsenal.
He's shown flashes of quality at the Emirates Stadium, but has found it difficult of late to get an extended run in the first-team.
He is often used in a wide forward role, a position of considerable depth for Arsenal. Podolski has to compete with the likes of Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey for a starting spot when Arsene Wenger has a fully fit squad.
The German star has himself suffered with injuries in his Arsenal career to date, but is back to full fitness and hoping to make a mark on the rest of the Premier League season.
