Floyd Mayweather snubs Amir Khan for next fight

Floyd Mayweather Jr has revealed his next opponent to be fellow Welterweight titleholder Marcos Maidana in a fight scheduled for May 3rd.

There has been speculation for some time as to who the unbeaten Mayweather would choose to face next and despite some jibing from British boxer Amir Khan, the pound-for-pound king has chosen the 39-year-old Argentine.

With 35 wins in 38 bouts Maidana's record is impressive but it will be hard for the boxing world to get overly excited for this one as he hasn't squared off against the same level of competition as Mayweather and has also lost three times since 2009.

Maidana will need to have the fight of his life to overcome his 45-0 opponent who will enter the bout as the heavy favorite.

Mayweather confirmed the fight via his twitter page and although the venue is still yet to be determined, it is clear there will be a lot of hype surrounding the bout that only ever comes from Floyd 'Money' Mayweather.
