Manchester City and Liverpool are both interested in goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who is getting closer to leaving Spanish giants Barcelona, according to the Daily Mirror.

Valdes has stated that he would like a move to the Premier League, which has grabbed the attention of both City and Liverpool.

The Spanish international is due to leave Barcelona when his contract expires in the summer, with Monaco being the favourites to sign the talented keeper. However it's thought that Valdes himself is keeping his options open and has asked his advisors to find clubs interested in England.

The 32-year-old has been ever-present in the Barcelona goal since 2002, and holds the record for the most goalkeeper appearances with the Spanish champions.

The Spaniard has won the La Liga title, Champions League and Copa del Rey with Barcelona as well as the World Cup and European Championship with Spain.

The introduction of a world class keeper would be a worry for both Joe Hart and Simon Mignolet with Valdes more than likely to slot straight into first team.
