Arsenal hand shock trial to teenage wonderkid

Arsenal have decided to hand St-Lucian born Canadian teenager Caniggia 'Ginola' Elva on trial this week, with the youngster's club side Calgary Southwest United confirming the news on Twitter earlier this week.

Elva has previously spent time training with three separate Bundesliga sides, but Stuttgart, Schalke and Hoffenheim all passed on the opportunity to sign the pacy young forward.

The Gunners think Elva is worth a closer look though and have invited the 17-year-old to train in North London, with CSWU revealing that their prized asset boarded a flight to England on Monday.

CSWU's Twitter account posted an excited message last week, stating: "OH MY - SWU Striker Caniggia Elva off to London, England for trial Monday with Arsenal FC. Thanks to all who Helped him get there!"

Details are scarce on the energetic youngster, who has pace and an eye for goal and can play out wide or in a more advanced attacking role.

Dedicated Arsenal blog the Daily Cannon managed to unearth footage of Elva in action for CSWU, via Podium Athletics, which you can check out at the bottom of the page.
