The 2014 college football season will see the introduction of a new poll.

The FWAA-NFF Grantland Rice Super 16, as it will be known, will not have any official bearing on the newly introduced College Football Playoff but will be released alongside the traditional AP Top 25 and USA Today Poll.

The 'Super 16' will be a joint effort between the National Football Foundation (NFF) and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), and, every Sunday throughout the season, will reveal to fans their top 16 teams across the nation.

All in all, 36 voters will contribute to the new poll - 26 FWAA members and 10 from the NFF.

As yet there is no word on who will make up the panel, but voters will be revealed in the summer USA Today reports

With the 2014 College football season bringing with it a new end-of-season four-team playoff system to replace the BCS Championship game, this latest 16 team poll could well be of interest to those who are seeking an expansion of the playoff in future years.
