Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic says Lazar Markovic can be one of the best players in Europe - and on this evidence you can see why.

The Serbian internationals played together at Benfica before Matic joined Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Markovic had been tipped to make the move to Stamford Bridge first - he was reportedly a target for Jose Mourinho earlier last summer before his move from Partizan Belgrade to Benfica.

The 19-year-old has been excellent in Portugal, and was even linked with a move to Chelsea again last month.

But he stayed at Benfica, and scored this absolute beauty of a goal last night against Vitoria Guimaraes.

The through ball from teammate Rodrigo was perfect, and Markovic just delicately lifted the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper and into the empty net.

It was beautifully simple and a superb piece of improvisation from the Serbian international.

Matic said recently that he would not be surprised if Markovic becomes one of the best players in Europe - he just needs to work harder in training.

On this evidence, we agree.
