It appeared for some time that Hulk, the tank of a Brazilian forward, was going to complete a transfer to the Premier League having performed to distinction during his time with Porto.

Hulk scored 36 goals and provided 21 assists as Porto laid to waste all before him during the trophy-laden season of 2010-11, and the following campaign was not too shabby on a personal level either.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham were linked with the player, but it was Zenit St Petersburg who managed to clinch the deal - paying a jaw-dropping €60 million to bring Hulk to Russia.

Hulk has scored goals for Zenit, there is no denying that, but as his performance against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening showed, he is a player who would have surely bombed in the English game given his all-round play.

No player has lost ball more often than Hulk in the Champions League this season, and he would have had fans, managers and teammates pulling out their respective strands of hair were he plying his trade on these shores.
