JR Smith - the dumbest player in the NBA?

Published Add your comment

JR Smith was clearly seen to pull down the headband of Vince Carter as the New York Knicks went down to Dallas Mavericks and, despite the TV camera evidence, the controversial shooting guard has denied all knowledge of the incident.

Smith and Carter came together in the fourth quarter of the game at Madison Square Garden, which the Mavericks won thanks to a buzzer beater from Dirk Nowitzki, and the former the former was seen to tug on the headgear of the latter.

Carter laughed it off but Smith runs the risk of infuriating the NBA once again for his antics on the court, even if he tried to take reporters for idiots in the aftermath of the Knicks’ defeat to the Mavericks.

"No, your eyes were playing tricks on you," Smith told reporters. "You're reaching for that one. I [already] got fined once for that s**t.”

Smith has already been hit in the pocket to the tune of the $50,000 this season after not heeding warnings from the NBA to not untie the laces of opponents in an attempt to gain an advantage.

The second time Smith did this back in January led the Knicks to put him on the bench, and prompted speculation about his future in New York. The dumbest player in the NBA? There is no doubt.
