Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has lavished praise on Cesar Azpilicueta in an interview with Sky Sports, insisting that a team made up entirely of 11 Spanish full-back's would have the character and drive to win the Champions League.

Azpilicueta has become a firm favourite of Mourinho's this season at Stamford Bridge, surprisingly nailing down a consistent starting spot at left-back ahead of England international Ashley Cole.

The 24-year-old was picked out for kind words by Mourinho ahead of tonight's Champions League tie with Galatasaray tonight, insisting that he has all the qualities of a winner in his make-up and is exactly the kind of player the club should be targeting moving forward.

Mourinho told Sky Sports: "This is the kind of player I like a lot.

"I think a team with 11 Azpilicuetas would probably win the competition because football is not just about the pure talent, football is also about character and personality and Azpilicuetas has all the traces of that winning personality."

Chelsea signed Azpilicueta as cover for Braislav Ivanovic at right-back in 2012, but the versatile defender has proved equally adept on the opposite flank, particularly this season.

Mourinho is expected to keep faith the trusted full-back in Turkey tonight, as Chelsea go in search of a positive result that will set them up perfectly for progression to the Champions League quarter-finals.
