Liverpool have submitted a fresh proposal to Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, reports the Daily Express.
The 32-year-old Spain international is set to leave Camp Nou upon the expiry of his contract this summer, prompting a clutch of different clubs to vie for his free transfer signature.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has now jumped to the front of the queue, having renewed interest from last summer in bringing Valdes to Anfield.
The Barcelona veteran was heavily linked with a move to France with Ligue 1 giants Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain both reportedly keen on the custodian.
However, Liverpool are confident of beating their rival suitors to the services of Valdes, as they look to provide competition for current number one Simon Mignolet on Merseyside.
Valdes would bring with him a wealth of experience from his glittering 12-year spell at Barcelona, during which time he has amassed 11 major honours.
The Spaniard has decided to finish his career with one final challenge away from the Catalan club, and will leave Tata Martino's team with a heavy heart at the end of 2013/14.
