West Brom coach safe until end of season

A report from Sky Sports News suggests that earlier stories claiming that West Brom head coach Pepe Mel will be sacked are unfounded.

The report suggests that Mel is safe until the end of the season at least.

The Spaniard has been in charge at West Bromwich Albion for just six weeks, yet newspaper reports suggested that he was on the verge of the sack after being backed by betting punters to be the next Premier League manager to leave.

The Baggies have gone six games without a win under Mel, yet the club will put their faith behind him until the end of the season.

The former Real Betis coach has signed a contract until the end of the next season and hopes to keep West Brom in the Premier League this season.

However, rumours of bust-ups between himself and the players does not bode well for survival this season.
