Liverpool & Arsenal target set to extend stay at Hellas Verona

Liverpool and Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their alleged pursuit of Juan Iturbe, after suggestions that the Argentine starlet is ready to extend his stay at Hellas Verona for another season, reports talkSPORT.

The 20-year-old forward has enjoyed a productive campaign in Italy on loan from FC Porto, having scored five goals in 21 Serie 'A' appearances.

His impressive form has attracted admiring glances from a host of European suitors, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Merseyside rivals Everton all believed to be monitoring his development.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been credited with an interest in luring Iturbe to the Emirates Stadium, while Brendan Rodgers is also keen on taking the South American to Anfield.

However, all three Premier League clubs will face stiff competition for the £12million-rated star's signature, with Juventus and Roma also keeping a close eye on the player's progress at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.

Porto were believed to be ready to cash-in on the talented youngster at the end of the season, but Hellas Verona will hope to convince the Portuguese giants to let Iturbe stay with them for another 12 months, in the hope it will drive up his valuation further in the summer of 2015.
