Roma star Mehdi Benatia looks set to sign a new deal with the Italian outfit, reports talkSPORT

The defender, who has been in fine form in Italy's elite division this season, looks set to be rewarded with a new deal amid interest from Manchester United.

If reports are to be believed, the defender, who only joined Roma from Udinese last summer, will discuss a new deal with Roma's sporting director Walter Sabatini before the end of the campaign.

This will come as a blow to Manchester United boss David Moyes, who had been expected to make a move for Benatia in the next window.

Manchester United will lose club-captain Nemanja Vidic at the end of the season, after the Serbian revealed that he won't be renewing his contract with the club.

The Red Devils could also lose the experienced Rio Ferdinand, with the defender entering the twilight years of his career. However, it now looks unlikely that Benatia will arrive at Manchester United before the start of next season.
