Former NFL quarterback has claimed that New York Jets' Geno Smith would be the first QB selected if he had entered the draft this year.

Smith was selected in the second round last year after some reports that he could be drafted in the top 10.

Speaking on Mad Dog Radio, Simms said "I think if Geno Smith were in this draft class, he'd be the number one QB"

Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles and Teddy Bridgewater are considered as the best quarterbacks in the 2014 class with several decent level college quarterbacks projected for the later rounds.

E.J Manuel was the only quarterback selected in the first round last year and just three were selected in the first three rounds in what was thought of as a poor year for quarterbacks.

Geno Smith successfully beat out an injured Mark Sanchez for the starting quarterback position in New York last year but only had 12 touchdowns with 21 interceptions and was eventually replaced.

It remains to be seen where this year's best quarterback prospects are chosen in the May 8th draft and what sort of careers they have once they make it to the NFL.
