Atletico Madrid are prepared to launch an ambitious transfer bid for Luis Suarez should Diego Costa leave in the summer, reports the Daily Mirror.
Citing Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser, the Mirror claim that details of a secret meeting at the Vicente Calderon was leaked to the media, containing six potential signing for the summer.
The most notable potential target was Liverpool's star striker Luis Suarez, who has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League in the near future.
His 23 Premier League goals have helped Liverpool into a commanding fourth place and he looks set to fire them to Champions League qualification for the first time since 2010.
But regardless of whether Liverpool qualify or not, Diego Simeone may still attempt to persuade Suarez to the Spanish capital in a move that is likely to be funded partly by the sale of Costa.
Costa has himself been on fire in La Liga but looks set to depart Atletico in the summer with Chelsea and Arsenal both linked with a £32m bid, meeting his release clause and forcing Atletico to sell.
The 25-year-old has himself been in fine form for Atletico this season, firing them into a title fight with Barcelona and local rivals Real Madrid. The club's ambition is to remain title challengers beyond this season and the purchase of Suarez will go some way to seeing that happen.
Ivan Rakitic and Mathieu Valbuena are also reported to be on the list despite the fact the former is set to sign a new deal with Sevilla.
Angel Correa, Axel Witsel and Alberto Moreno make up the remaining three on the six-strong list that could be subject to bids from Simeone in the summer.
