Tottenham's defeat against Norwich City widened the gap to six points behind fourth place last week. But a win against Cardiff could change everything if Southampton takes the three points against Liverpool.
Tim Sherwood's side need to bounce back in the Premier League if they don't want Manchester United or Everton to close in on their position.
Liverpool travel to the south on Saturday where they will meet Southampton at Saint Mary's stadium, whereas Spurs will face the bottom league table side Cardiff at home at White Hart Lane.
Moreover Spurs' boss Sherwood has let on that Sandro is back in the frame, and England's right-back Kyle Walker too, which will clearly strengthen the north London side defensively.
After a 1-0 loss at Carrow Road against Norwich last week, the Tottenham's fans saw their Champions League dream heavily diminished, as Liverpool pulled away from them in the race for the coveted fourth place.
But after two away defeats in a row, Sherwood's mens are determined to come back on a the winning side.
If Liverpool throw away three points against the Saints, everything can change again for the north Londoners. They will see themselves three points from the top four, and Spurs fans will see their hopes for the elite tournament back in their hearts.
If so, the clash between Tottenham and Liverpool on March 30 at Anfield will be a decisive game that could push the north London club into the top four.
