Spring Training may have only just begun for players but some veterans are beginning to show signs of rustiness already.
Veteran Dodgers outfielder, Carl Crawford embarrassed himself today when a headfirst slide into second base during a meeting with the Arizona Diamondbacks went a bit wrong.
The 12-year veteran appeared to get a little stuck in the dirt during the leap and ended up smacking his face into the infield and losing his batting helmet in the process. To add to the indignity of the entire incident, Crawford was told to return to first base after the ball was called foul.
You can check out the incident in full in the video above or the GIF version here with thanks to Deadspin.com for providing us with the first embarrassing moment of the 2014 baseball season.
Here's to many more.
