The NBA is edging ever closer to the business end of the season and the play-offs are not too far away.
It's at this point in the season that teams need to start producing form that will take them into the play-offs, which start in April, on a hot streak.
Assessing the teams that are at their hottest right now is not as simple as looking at which team has the longest winning streak.
The best way to get a real feel for which teams have the momentum is to gage a teams performances over a ten-game period for example.
So here at GMS we thought we would run you through the top five teams in terms of wins in their last ten games.
If there are ties, winning streaks will prevail.
5. Charlotte Bobcats 7-3 (4 win streak)
In fifth place we have the Bobcats who are riding a four game winning streak at the moment. Their recent play has given them a good chance of making the Eastern Conference play-off at the end of the regular season.
Before they won seven out of ten games they were 20-27, but after their recent run they now stand at 27-30 going into Thursday's night of games.
4. Houston Rockets 8-2 (1 loss streak)
The Houston Rockets were on a roll until they lost Wednesday to the LA Clippers.
In fact, the Rockets had actually won the most games in the NBA since January 7th before last night. This means that despite their loss they are certainly a team on an upward curve at the moment.
The only problem for them is that they are continuously playing catch up with the rest of the Western Conference, with the Thunders, Spurs and Clippers currently setting the pace.
3. Chicago Bulls 8-2 (2 win steak)
Chicago Bulls are in great form at the moment having won eight out of their last nine games.
Their upsurge in form has come at the right time for them as they now have a great chance of challenging for a top four seed in the Eastern Conference.
They currently sit second in the Central Division in the Eastern Conference, and recent impressive wins include their 103-83 hammering of the Golden State Warriors last night.
2. Dallas Mavericks 8-2 (4 win streak)
It seems the Dallas Mavericks are going somewhat under the radar a little this season, but that isn't to say they can't challenge come play-off time.
The Spurs and the Rockets are dominating their Southwest Western Conference Division at the moment, but more big wins like their triumph at the Pacers two weeks ago will set them in great stead for a strong finish to the season.
1. Miami Heat 8-2 (5 win streak)
This leaves the might Miami Heat at the top of the pile yet again.
The two-time reigning NBA Champions seem to be timing their form at the right stage of the season yet again.
The return of Dwyane Wade has helped their cause, and wins against the Mavericks and the Pacers in recent weeks shows their dominance is still high in the NBA.
