Football is a game largely built around showmanship and flashy characters, but that isn't to say that some individuals don't take it a step too far.
The modern game is full of egos and cockiness, but who tops the bill in terms of the players who wind us up the most? GMS contributor Aaron Khemchandani lists his top five:
5 - Ashley Cole - Chelsea/England
Ashley Cole is, in my opinion, one of the best left-backs the world, let alone the Premier League, has ever seen. His pace, strength and attacking prowess add to why he's been amazing the last few years.
However, 'Cashley' as he's known by Arsenal and Chelsea fans is also extremely arrogant. He is quoted as once saying: “When I heard Jonathan Barnett (player’s agent) repeat the figure of £55K [a week], I nearly swerved off the road. He (former Arsenal Director David Dein) is taking the piss Jonathan! I yelled down the phone. I was so incensed. I was trembling with anger. I couldn’t believe what I’d heard.” Snubbing the offer of £55,000-a-week is one thing. Allowing it to drive your insane is another altogether.
4 - Nicklas Bendtner - Arsenal/Denmark
Nicklas Bendtner is a good player. He really is. However, he isn't nearly good enough to claim that his next transfer should be to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
His massive ego is what he's known for. He is quoted as saying: "I had three aims this year - to get into the Arsenal team, qualify for the World Cup and to be Player of the Year. I have achieved them all. I want to be top scorer in the Premier League, top scorer at the World Cup and, within five years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world.
"Trust me, it will happen. I look around at other players, I see my own ability and I can’t see anything that tells me it won’t happen, I’m sure people will think 'What is he talking about?’ But as I have done before, and as I will do again, I will sit at the other end and laugh at those people when it is all done."
We're still waiting...
3 - Cristiano Ronaldo - Real Madrid/Portugal
Ronaldo. Some of us know him for his tricks. His skills. His goals. However, all of us know about his planet-sized ego. Ronaldo has been known as cocky for years now, and that's what we'll all remember him most for.
Some people will be asking why the Portuguese international isn't higher up in this list. Well, he gets beaten narrowly by a certain manager...
2 - Jose Mourinho - Chelsea
The only manager in this list, Jose Mourinho is, in my opinion, the best manager in the world today. He's won the treble with Porto and Inter Milan, two successive Premier League titles with current club Chelsea, and a La Liga title with Los Blancos.
However, you can't deny that he is massively arrogant. His latest dangerous quote involved Arsene Wenger. He was quoted as saying: "Wenger is a specialist at failure."
Never a full moment when the Special One is around.
1 - Zlatan Ibrahimovic - PSG/Sweden
The Swede narrowly tops this list. Why did I place him top of the list? Simply because of his many witty quotes.
He is known for his quick replies to reporters. Zlatan is amazing. He scored one of the world's greatest goals in Sweden's 4-2 win against England. That goal led him to win the FIFA Puskas award 2013, and this only feeds his planet-sized ego.
One of his many great quotes is: "First I went left. He did too. Then I went right, and he did too. Then I went left again, and he went to buy a hot dog."
There are many more memorable Zlatan quotes, and we might see even better ones this season.
