Manchester United's summer spending is likely to go on reinforcing their midfield and near the top of David Moyes' transfer list is exciting young midfielder Paul Pogba.

According to the Daily Mail, the Old Trafford manager has made the former Red Devil youngster one of his "prime" targets for this summer as the current Premier League holders face their worst season in years.

Manchester United are on the verge of being knocked out of the Champions League by Greek side Olympiacos, have been knocked out of both domestic cups and are 11 points off the fourth place they need to get back into Europe's top competition next season.

A move for Pogba is unlikely to be cheap as he has been performing brilliantly for Juventus since joining them after rejecting a new contract at Manchester United, with many believing not paying him more and keeping him at Old Trafford was one of the biggest mistake Sir Alex Ferguson made in the years leading up to his retirement.

Manchester United signed Juan Mata from Chelsea in the January transfer window in an attempt to improve the creativity in their side, but many commentators still believe the midfield needs more work and Pogba could provide a combination of athleticism and technique that none of the current Old Trafford midfielders possess.
