Manchester United defender target Davide Astori has opened the door to a Premier League move in the summer.

The 27-year-old Italian international defender was linked with a move to England in the January transfer window, with Southampton among the clubs reportedly chasing the centre back's signature at the start of the year.

Red Devils chief David Moyes is also interested in the Cagliari player, according to Metro, and his recent comments have given a clear indication that the champions could be in luck if they pursue Astori.

"I am very attracted to the Premier League," he told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"It’s a beautiful league with many great teams. I would like to play there certainly."

Manchester United are facing a potentially defining transfer window at the end of the season, with European football by no means a formality at Old Trafford.

Nemanja Vidic has also confirmed that he'll be leaving the Red Devils when the current campaign concludes, whilst Rio Ferdinand is reaching the later stages of his career.

That could leave the door open for the arrival of at least one new centre back at the club, and Astori has thrown his hat into the Manchester United ring with his comments.
