Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lucas Moura has hardly lived up to his hardly lived up to his billing as one of the club’s most expensive acquisitions, but the young Brazilian was able to produce a moment of magic at the weekend that offered a glimpse of why he was afforded such a hefty price tag.
Lucas moved to the Parc des Princes for a fee of around €40 million during the summer transfer window of 2012, but has failed to really make his mark in Paris. A recent poll in L’Equipe saw over 80 percent of PSG fans claim the club had paid too much to sign Lucas.
The 21-year-old, though, showed his exceptional talent during PSG’s 2-0 defeat of Marseille on Sunday as he almost scored one of the greatest solo goals in recent memory.
Lucas cut through the Marseille defence having initially started his run well inside the PSG half, but was denied by Rod Fanni’s last-ditch clearance.
