Ian Bell is all set to join England’s T20 squad in Barbados following Alex Hales’ and Eoin Morgan’s injuries.
It is highly uncertain whether either of the two would be able to play in the upcoming T20 series, which is why Ian Bell has been called as cover.
The looks especially possible in the case of Alex Hales as he might not be fit for even the T20 World Cup. However, Morgan is expected to get fit on time and there aren’t much worries related to him.
England’s limited overs coach Ashley Giles said: “We are going to call-up a replacement to come to Barbados and that is Ian Bell.
“He is a world-class player, a world-class fielder and a world-class bloke, so we look forward to meeting up with him in Barbados.
“He wasn't in the original 30, but with those two different sorts of players and the cover we need, and the conditions we are going to face in Bangladesh, Belly has the ability to play all those different roles.”
It isn’t yet sure whether Bell would be on the flight to Bangladesh because of the uncertainties over especially Alex Hales’ fitness. However, if Hales doesn’t get fit on time, then Bell would fill his slot.
The Warwickshire batsman also tweeted yesterday saying “Looking forward to joining @StuartBroad8 and the lads in Barbados for some T20 action”.
It would be interesting to see Bell in some T20 action as the right hander hasn’t played any T20I since 2011 (which was against Australia at The MCG).
