Zenit St Petersburg appear unwilling to give up in their pursuit of Manchester United target Ezequiel Garay, having failed to recruit the Argentina international before the close of the Russian transfer window last week.
Garay had been a target for Zenit prior to the deadline on February 27, but Benfica were not prepared to sell one of their key defensive performers at this stage of the season. It would appear that Zenit will revive their interest in the summer, with A Bola reporting Garay was watched by scouts of the club at the weekend.
Zenit, it is claimed, dispatched representatives to watch Garay on Sunday, and the 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Benfica kept a clean sheet and secure three points via a solitary Nicolas Gaitan goal.
David Moyes is expected to make reinforcements in central defence before the next campaign, and Garay could cost the Red Devils around £25 million.
