The GiveMeSport US Report - March 3

Hello and welcome to GiveMeSport TV’s daily look at the world of sport across the pond in America.

We start in the NBA, and the continuing decline of the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference.

Yesterday’s 19-point defeat to the Chicago Bulls was the sixth straight loss for Mike Woodson’s side, who now find themselves out of the playoff picture at a dismal 21 and 39.

Elsewhere, and the Philadelphia 76ers lost their 14th straight game against the Orlando Magic last night, whilst the Oklahoma City Thunder flexed their muscles against Charlotte.

In the NFL, the fallout from the latest combine continues, with all the talk focused on some top quarterback prospects in the States.

Whilst Jonny Manziel has stolen the headlines, NFL Films producer Greg Cosell believes UCF’s Blake Bortles might be the better option on draft day in May.

A look at the world of baseball now, and superstar pitcher Justin Verlander is set to face the Philadelphia Philies in a pre-season match-up on Thursday.

The 31-year-old is scheduled to return to action for the first time since core muscle surgery, and came through some spring training in Sunday ahead of the match-up. The MLB season starts at the end of the month.

We finish with Ice Hockey, and the Ottawa Senators’ victory over the Vancouver Canucks in the 2014 NHL Heritage Classic.

Jason Garrison and Zack Kassian put the Canucks into an early lead against their Canadian rivals, but Clarke MacArthur, Erik Karlsson and Cody Cecci completed a fine comeback before Colin Greening wrapped it up with an empty net finish.
