Blake Bortles has seen his draft stock rise in recent weeks, thanks in part by a strong performance at the recent NFL Scouting Combine.
And according to NFL Network reporter Albert Breer, Bortles has impressed so much that several scouts around the league have drawn comparison between the UCF man and Andrew Luck, quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts.
After seeking the opinion of personnel people in the NFL he took to Twitter to reveal his findings:
"Most common comparison I heard for Blake Bortles was Andrew Luck," he told his followers.
But Breer was clear he didn't share that opinion:
"Bortles is not quite the athlete, and not nearly as developed," he wrote in the same Tweet.
It would be interesting to see just which teams are praising Bortles in such a way, but while Bortles may well end up being taken as the first overall pick this May, it is hard to put him at the same level to Luck who was the sure fire number one draft pick in 2012:
"It would be folly to think the personnel people who are making the comparisons think Bortles will have the same type of immediate impact," Breer later wrote on the subject.
Bortles finished last season with 3,581 yards and 25 touchdowns for the University of Central Florida.
