I think that we can all agree that the change that Chelsea have gone through in the past few months has been incredible.
In this article I will be looking at how Jose Mourinho has turned Chelsea from a team hoping for Champions League qualification to a team that may well win the title. There are a lot of things that Mourinho has done and I will be looking at them in detail.
Reputation: The first thing that Jose has used to his advantage that he has not needed to do anything with is his reputation.
Mourinho is a proven manager and has won the Champions League on several occasions and has won a trophy in every of his years in management. Mourinho had already been at Chelsea and had a hugely successful reign.
Some of Mourinho's old players are still here and they have proved vital in Chelsea's search for supremacy. These players include John Terry, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech. Mourinho's reputation has had a huge effect on the players and on the fans which have warmed to him very quickly.
Back-up plan: Mourinho's other assets include his masterful tactics. Mourinho has his basic 4-2-3-1 formation that he starts most matches with however when it starts to go pear shaped he goes into a 4-3-3 formation that baffles the opposition.
In this plan the striker (normally Samuel Eto'o or Fernando Torres) stays up front and allows Willian and Eden Hazard to constantly swap wings which baffles the opposition's man marking system. This has massively helped Mourinho in matches such as ones like Southampton and many others.
Ranks: This can't go without a mention, the amount of players that Mourinho has at his disposal.
The likes of Oscar, Willian and Hazard to name a few. This helps Mourinho because it means that he can constantly rotate his team whilst still playing a good team, and this massively helps as we come to the end of the Premier League season which is when players such as Oscar get fatigued.
