A future NBA team owner?.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is keen on owning an NBA team, according to a recent interview he conducted with the Milwaukee Business Journal.

The undisputed NBA legend is open to front-office involvement at a franchise should the right opportunity arise:

"Being involved in the business of basketball is something I wouldn't shy away from.

"But it would have to be a good situation for me. It would depend totally on what the situation was," he told Rich Kirchen.

Kareem had a stellar playing career with the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Lakers and is the all-time top points scorer in the history of the league.

And now it seems he is hoping to take his talents to the boardroom in the future. The 66-year old did emphasise the need for any move to make financial sense however:

"Something where I had some equity in the team, so that what I would get was an opportunity to benefit from it."

In total Abdul-Jabbar won six NBA championships and was adamant that if he was to have any involvement with a franchise, he would want to put his experience to good use:

"I'd have to have some say. I wouldn't have to have all of it," he explained.

Kareem retired in 1989 and has since been involved in various basketball related initiatives, as well as continuing to write books and fulfil a role as Cultural Ambassador for the United States.

But it looks like a return to the NBA might not be too far-fetched.
