Inter Milan are poised to make a bid for Arsenal star Lukas Podolski, according to reports in Italy.
Speculation from Italian source TuttoMercato suggests that representatives from Inter have made contact with Arsenal over the potential purchase of Podolski, whilst on assignment to gather information on other transfer targets.
The German international is rumoured to be unsettled at the Emirates, and it’s thought that Inter owner Erick Thohir is keen to take advantage of the situation by offering him a way out. The Italian giants have already virtually assured the acquisition of Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic, and are also retaining an interest in Bacary Sagna.
However unlike Sagna, Podolski has a contract which runs until 2016, meaning Inter will have to meet Arsene Wenger’s valuation of the player before any deal will come close to being sanctioned.
Whilst not considered a key asset for the Gunners, Podolski has become an important member of their squad, and Wenger’s transfer emphasis this summer is thought to be centred around attracting top talent rather than letting it depart.
