Manchester United's current situation is rather unique and peculiar and the problems are seemingly sure to persist until the end of this season.
Manchester United's defence has been in tatters lately and with the news that Nemanja Vidic is set to leave at the end of the season ,there will be an evident void next season as well.
When it comes to the midfield - which has been the main source of agitation for Moyes' men - Manchester United have been heavily linked with Bayern Munich ace Toni Kroos. But is he really an attainable target, particularly if Manchester United miss out on the top four?
For those of you who don't think United will be able to sign Kroos this coming summer, they must entice and sign his Spanish teammate Javi Martinez instead.
What Martinez is to Bayern is what Anderson was to Manchester United considering the way both disappeared rather abruptly down the pecking order for their respective clubs.
Martinez is a utility player who can operate in different positions including central midfield and centre-back. Much like United's very own Phil Jones, the 25-year-old can act as a holding midfielder in some cases with the option of moving forward also available.
United who have a rather significant scarcity of decent holding midfielders in their ranks and should consider buying one to reduce the burden from Michael Carrick's shoulders.
When the Spaniard signed for Bayern two-years ago, he was expected to take up the role of a midfield orchestrator but he has been,so far, let down by some managerial decisions.
The likes of Tom Cleverley have failed to succeed in midfield this season for the Red Devils and Moyes' men are clearly still feeling the impact of Paul Scholes' absence following his retirement last season and no-one can deny the fact that United would have been poor in his absence even a season ago.
By the looks of things, United look set to miss out on a Champions League spot thanks to their aggravating midfield problems which are still to be resolved. Kroos' signing looks almost impossible by any means and United would have to shift focus to a wholly different player and Martinez should be one of them.
