At present, Johnny Manziel is consistently touted as a top five pick ahead of the May draft.
And, whilst the various mock drafts differ on where he will go, many had seen number 4 Cleveland Browns as a likely home for the former Texas A&M man.
But, judging by the recent revelations of Browns head coach Mike Pettine, that might not be a viable option:
"We didn't speak to him at the Combine.
"I didn't personally. He was not part of the formal interviews," Pettine told Mary Kay Cabot.
The interview stage of the Combine is usually a good indicator of which players are attracting interest from the various ahead of the draft, so for the Browns hierarchy to admit to not speaking to one of the most talked about prospects is a surprising revelation.
So surprising in fact that some members are the media are of the opinion that Pettine is simply providing a smokescreen to lure rival teams into a false sense of security where Manziel is concerned.
With the Browns in need of a quarterback it seems odd that they would not speak to Johnny Football, but perhaps they are planning on biding their time at Radio City Music Hall and utilising their no.26 pick to nab a QB lower down the pecking order.
