The Toronto Raptors are going to celebrate their 20th year of existence next season.
And in honor of this milestone, the franchise is set to wear a unique, new logo on their home jersey's throughout the 2014-15 campaign.
And here is it.
The first thing to note is that the purple is back!
Love it or hate it, purple was synonymous with the Raptors during their early years in the NBA but hasn't been part of jersey designs for the past eight years.
Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment explained the move in an official statement:
"This anniversary logo embodies the excitement of both the future and the past of Raptors basketball, but most importantly, it reminds us of the success and history we're working to create here," he explained.
Toronto are rumored to be planning a bigger rebranding in the coming seasons, with Drake supposedly helping to design a new longer term logo for the franchise.
But as mentioned, this offering, which sees the raptor claw surrounded by XX roman numerals, will be worn on a patch on the team's home jersey next season alongside their current symbol.
What do you think? Does it do the Raptors NBA history justice?
