Kallstrom set for Arsenal debut..

Arsenal are set to give Kim Kallstrom his long awaited loan debut after recovering from a fractured vertebrae, reports the Daily Mirror.

Arsene Wenger invited criticism after signing the Swedish midfielder on loan despite the fact he had recently suffered a back injury that would keep him out until mid-March.

Deciding he was better than no one, Wenger put his seal of approval on the deal much to the bemusement of the Arsenal faithful.

But Wenger's gamble is set to pay off as Kallstrom nears a return to fitness.

The 31-year-old has an outside chance of making the squad for Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final against Everton after telling the Swedish medical staff that he is  "close to being fit."

The return of Kallstrom will provide a timely boost to the Gunners, who are looking to bounce back from a shock 1-0 loss to Stoke City last weekend.

Aaron Ramsey could also be set to return in the coming days with the crucial Premier League tie against Tottenham pencilled in as a possibility.

Arsenal must avoid defeat at White Hart Lane to avoid an evermore familiar battle for fourth with their north London rivals and the return of their standout player of the season, Ramsey, will help no end.

It's more good news for Ramsey, who is reportedly close to signing a new five-year deal worth £100,000-a-week.

That information follows news that both Per Mertesacker and Tomas Rosicky have signed new deals with the club.
