Monaco have joined Manchester United and Zenit St Petersburg in the race to sign Benfica's Ezequiel Garay, according to reports in Portugal.
Manchester United are said to be long-term admirers of Garay - but have been unable to finalise a deal with Portuguese outfit Benfica in the past.
However the Red Devils could finally land the 27-year-old in the summer as they have stepped up their interest in the centre-back following Nemanja Vidic's announcement that he would be leaving the club in the summer.
Argentine international Garay was urged by his national team boss to reject interest from Zenit last month as Alejandro Sabella told him to not seal a move away from Benfica until after this summer's World Cup.
Manchester United were thought to be the favourites to land Garay until news of Monaco's interest in the former Real Madrid defender.
The Ligue 1 moneybags have reportedly been tracking Garay for some time now and could make a move for the Benfica man in the summer.
Garay, whose current deal at the Estádio da Luz runs out at the end of next season, has a release clause of 20million euros.
