Hello and welcome to GiveMeSport TV’s daily look at the world of sport across the pond in America.
We once again start in the NBA, and the Houston Rockets’ 106-103 victory over the Miami Heat in a battle of two of the Western Conference powerhouses.
LeBron James was unable to inspire the Heat to a win just 24 hours after dropping 61 points against Charlotte, with Dwight Howard registering his 40th double-double of the season for the opposition.
Elsewhere, Oklahoma City heaped more misery on the 76ers, whilst Golden State claimed a two-point win over the Pacers in Indianapolis.
In the NFL, free agency is moving ever closer, and a number of big-name players are available if contracts can be agreed.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has been linked with the New York Jets, whilst wide receiver Eric Decker could make some big bucks after an 11-touchdown season at the Denver Broncos.
Excitement continues to build amongst baseball fans, and today’s pre-season meeting between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals heightens it further.
The two ball-clubs will get the chance to measure their progress ahead of the regular season kick-off at the end of the month, and the Cards will be after some sort of revenge for their World Series defeat against the same opposition four months ago.
And finally, College Basketball is starting to get exciting as the top teams in the country vie for position ahead of March Madness.
The Florida Gators are currently ranked first, although Wichita State are the fans’ favourite after a perfect 31-0 season ahead of the tournament.
Big names like Kentucky and Syracuse continue to show signs of decline at the wrong time though, and are sliding down the rankings.
