Legendary WWE broadcaster Jim Ross appears to have questioned Kurt Angle's current role in TNA, with the Hall of Famer evidently troubled by the fact that Angle is wrestling in a mid-card event at the upcoming 'Lockdown' pay-per-view.

Angle has been with TNA since 2006 but is not set to appear in one of the main events at the flagship PPV in Miami on Sunday.

Instead, the Olympic gold medalist (oh yes, it's true) is set to face ECIII - something that Ross clearly does not agree with at this stage of his career.

"TNA has a PPV this Sunday emanating from South Florida called Lockdown. It troubles me that Kurt Angle is once again being saddled up and ridden into a mid card match at this stage of his game," he said in a recent blog that was quoted by Wrestlinginc.com.

However, despite his apprehension at such a match for Angle, Ross was quick to point out that he was not intending to attack TNA as a whole.

"Just an observation and not attacking TNA Impact who I hope continues to develop their own identity and they play to their strengths which is bell to bell physicality and aggressive
storytelling," he added.

Angle, who spent years as one of the WWE's very top performers prior to his departure from the company in 2006, has been the subject of repeated rumours recently suggesting that he could be set for a return this year.

Wrestling fans, what do you make of Angle's role with TNA? Is he appreciated? Could he be doing more?
