Following an appalling season at the helm of Manchester United, David Moyes is considering the release of striker Robin Van Persie in the summer transfer market, according to the Metro.
After huge pressure to perform for United this season, a combination of half hearted appearances and disputes with team-mates could mean this is the end for the ageing striker at Old Trafford.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement last summer, things have all gone down-hill. Van Persie and new boss David Moyes have reportedly never seen 'eye to eye' and after an incident where they was caught rowing recently at a training session, this suspicion grew stronger.
Last season, the 30-year-old striker hit the net 26 times for United and helped them win their 20th Premier League title.
With just 11 goals this season, a lack of enthusiasm and an overall negative attitude towards the club, both Moyes and Van Persie believe that leaving this summer could be the best possible result.
Arsenal are reportedly working on a transfer that could bring their former captain back to the Emirates, just two years after he left the club.
It is believed that Arsene Wenger has already met with Van Persie's agent to discuss the transfer and see whether a summer move is possible.
Reports claim that Van Persie is willing to cut his £200,000-a-week salary in order to leave Old Trafford, thought these have yet to be confirmed.
