Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has revealed that he is open to a move to the MLS if he wishes to leave his current club when his contract expires in two-years time, according to Sky Sports.
The Spain international is quoted as having said: “Moving to the USA, I don’t reject that in the future.
“I don’t discount anything – Europe, Real Sociedad or even staying longer at Real Madrid. ”
Alonso has been pursued by ex-club Liverpool in the past, significantly so after Brazilian holding midfielder Lucas Leiva was been struck with injury problems that threatened to derail the Red season.
However Brendan Rodgers has since changed his tactics to allow Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard to take up the holding role, which he has done admirably. This may mean that the Merseyside outfit has lost interest in Alonso and they could turn to alternate options instead.
Either way, it's unlikely he'll still be on their radar when his new deal at the Bernabeu is up.
The 32-year-old Spanish machine has appeared 158 times for Real Madrid, scoring four times, but this season he has made 26 appearances for Los Blancos, in which he has not scored once.
