New York Jets bring in former Chargers cornerback Patrick

The New York Jets have acquired cornerback Johnny Patrick today.

The Jets chose to sign the player off waivers and he joins the franchise just a day after his release from the San Diego Chargers.

Patrick last season appeared in 13 games for the Chargers, making four starts and posting a career-high 34 tackles.

He was originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2011, and the third-round pick went on to play 24 times for the Saints before being heading to San Diego in February 2013.

Last season also saw the cornerback's first interception as a pro, picking off Miami Dolphin quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

This was complimented with four QB hits and a forced fumble in undoubtedly his best season in the league.

At present the Jets have Antonio Cromartie and Dee Milliner as starting cornerbacks but are likely to cut Cromartie in the coming weeks as the player has a $5 million roster bonus due
