Cristiano Ronaldo put his name in the history books last night by scoring a fine brace in the friendly thrashing Cameroon.
The Real Madrid superstar started and rounded off the scoring as Portugal eased to a 5-1 victory in Leiria over the not quite Indomitable Lions, making him the highest ever goalscorer in his nation's history.
Ronaldo now has 49 goals for Portugal to take him above the previous record holder Pauleta and one can imagine that this is a record that he will add to over the next few years.
The former Manchester United star broke the deadlock just past the 20 minute mark with a lovely shimmy on the edge of the area and arrowed finish into the bottom corner, while his second was a quick turn and low shot after a loose ball fell at his feet in the Cameroon area.
Ronaldo's Real Madrid teammate Fabio Coentrao, AS Monaco's Raul Meireles and Edinho got the other goals.
