It seems that unless footballers have at least three years remaining on their contracts, the clubs are coming under pressure to sell.

That has made the process of signing and renewing contracts all the more prominent in today's game with long term deals proving significant.

Aaron Ramsey became the latest player to sign what seemed to be a needless new contract this week, if reports are to be believed.

The Guardian claim that the Welshman is set to sign his second five-year contract in the space of 12 months, doubling his wages to £100,000.

It shows how far Ramsey has come on this season as fans bemoaned his long-term deal last year, worth £50,000-a-week yet applaud this one.

Here we look at six other significant deals from across Europe that have been signed this season.
