Manchester United's hopes of signing Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos appear to have improved as the Bundesliga outfit have signed Eintracht Frankfurt star Sebastian Rode.
Rode, who plays in a similar position to Kroos, has reportedly signed a four-year deal with the German and European champions.
The 23-year-old will move to the Allianz Arena at the end of the season on a free transfer as his current contract at Eintracht Frankfurt expires in the summer.
Manchester United manager David Moyes is said to be keen on bringing Kroos to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window as his current crop of midfielders have failed to impress the Scotsman.
Moyes has been spotted casting his eye over Kroos in Germany and was at the Emirates Stadium to watch the midfielder in action against Arsenal in the Champions League.
Kroos is out of contract at the end of next season so Bayern Munich may choose to cash in on the midfielder or risk losing the 24-year-old for free in the summer of 2015.
Reports earlier this week suggested Moyes was planning to offer Kroos £250,000-a-week in order to tempt the German international away from his homeland.
