There was hope from within the WWE that CM Punk was going give a retirement speech at last Monday night's Raw, reports wrestlinginc.com.
Punk hasn't been seen in the ring since he lasted over an hour in January's Royal Rumble match and, in the build up to last Monday's Raw, there was major speculation that Punk was set to return to the industry.
However, Punk stayed away from the event, with his long term wrestling career remaining uncertain. And now there have been indications that the WWE were hoping Punk was going to give a farewell speech last Monday.
It certainly doesn't look likely that Punk will make a return to the wrestling scene anytime soon. With Punk absent, wrestling fans will be gearing themselves up for next month's WrestleMania which will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
A number of matches are expected to be announced in the coming weeks, with Punk set to stay away from the Grandest Stage of them All.
