Kevin Durant is enjoying one hell of a season. The Oklahoma City Thunder star looks set to end LeBron James’ period of dominance and be named the most valuable player in the NBA in 2014, given his breathtaking form.
Durant must be feeling pretty good about life right now, and things have taken another upturn for the NBA’s leading PPG scorer after he was afforded a meeting with the true ‘greatest’, Muhammad Ali.
The 25-year-old posted a picture of himself and Ali on his official Instagram account with the caption: "I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.”
An inspirational quote indeed but, somewhat unfortunately for Durant, these words from Ali were unable to prevent the Thunder from falling to defeat agains the Phoenix Suns only hours later.
Durant again exceeded 30 points, although was outscored by Russell Westbrook, but the Thunder were still condemned to defeat by the Suns in a high-scoring encounter at the US Airways Center, Phoenix.
The Suns got the win by 128-122, a first defeat in four for the Thunder, while Phoenix were able to get back to winning ways having lost to the LA Clippers in their previous outing.
