Vancouver Canucks Forward Zack Kassian has been suspended for three games without pay for boarding Dallas Stars Brenden Dillon on Thursday.
During the match between the Canucks and Stars on Thursday night, Kassian was charged with a major game penalty and game misconduct.
The Canucks went on to have a horrible night in Dallas as they fell 6-1 to the Stars and Kassian's indiscretion coming in the first period was not helpful to their cause.
Kassian becomes the second NHL player in four days to be suspended by the NHL Department of Player Safety after the Washington Capitals Dmitry Orlov was handed a two game suspension on Monday.
Kassian's penalty is more severe because he is now considered a repeat offender and will forfeit over $32,000 to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.
The Canucks are currently on a four game losing streak and Kassian's suspension will come as another blow for them.
The punishment will mean that Kassian will miss the games against the Calgary Flames, New York Islanders and Winnipeg Jets.
