Manchester United boss David Moyes is weighing up the possibility of making a summer move for Arsenal outcast Thomas Vermaelen, according to The Sun.
Moyes is looking to bring at least one centre-back to the club in the summer as Rio Ferdinand could follow Nemanja Vidic out of the club at the end of the season.
The Scotsman said he would give the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling the chance to impress at centre-back before making a decision on whether to bolster his defensive options - however Moyes will want to have at least one vastly experienced centre-back on his books.
Arsenal club captain Vermaelen is said to have become disillusioned with life in north London as he is no longer a first-team regular at the Emirates Stadium.
Vermaelen, who is close friends with Manchester United star Robin van Persie, has just one year left on his current deal and is unlikely to want to extend his stay with the Gunners.
Reports suggest Arsenal would accept a bid in the region of £12million for the Belgium international - despite the fact he is approaching the final year of his contract.
Rafael Benitez's Napoli are also said to be interested in the 28-year-old defender.
