Kobe Bryant is doing the rounds to talk about his latest Nike shoe, the Kobe 9 Elite, and the LA Lakers icon has revealed he already knows exactly how the next edition of his footwear range is going to look.
Nike and Bryant have a relationship going back almost 10 years and, in that time, they have created 12 different sets of Kobe branded footwear, with the newest sneaker the most innovative yet.
The Kobe 9 Elite utilises Nike’s revolutionary FlyKnit technology and also abandons the low-cut design on recent Bryant shoes, instead adopting a higher design that is used to represent the Achilles tendon injury he suffered last season.
Bryant missed over eight months of action before he was able to make his return for the Lakers, but was soon sidelined again with a fractured kneecap. This time off has provided Bryant with more time to do some promotional work for Nike and, as he did during his rehabilitation, he continues to look forward.
“We just continue to innovate,” Bryant told Complex.com about his plans for the Kobe 10. “It always starts with the athlete. You always start with the question of, 'What can help me to be a better basketball player?'
“You start from that technological standpoint and then you work from there. I have the story already framed up, I know what it is going to be. I know what the aesthetic of the shoe is going to be. The technology in the shoe is going to be absolutely crazy.”
