Chelsea may be willing to sell rising starlet Thibaut Courtois at the end of this season, with reports suggesting both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid could be interested.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola claims that stories emanating from the Spanish press allude to the fact that the Belgian stopper faces tough competition from Petr Cech for the No.1 jersey at Stamford Bridge, and could be sold on for as much as €30million.
Courtois has spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico, where he has developed greatly as a player, and is expected to return to west London this summer to compete with Cech for a place in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI. However fresh reports suggest that Atletico could be set to pay €30million for his signature at this season’s end, with boss Diego Simeone having already said he would be prepared to stump up over £20million for his services.
Only yesterday did rumours surface claiming that Courtois would be moving to Real in 2016, when his current deal is up, however they have since been refuted.
Do you think Chelsea should place their faith in Courtois for next season? Or do you think Cech deserves to retain the place between the sticks? Let us know in the box below.
